According to CHP logs, the collision involved a black sedan and a semi pulling two trailers. A witness reported the sedan may have swerved into the semi's lane before the crash. Both lanes of SR-138 were blocked, prompting CHP to issue a SigAlert. Caltrans was requested to close Avenue D from 30th Street West to 50th Street West. One of the semi's fuel tanks ruptured, spilling approximately 100 gallons of diesel onto the dirt shoulder. Hazmat personnel responded to the scene. CHP later reported the tank was plugged and no longer leaking, with no storm drains or waterways affected. The crash was classified by CHP as a major injury collision. Motorists should avoid the area and expect an extended closure while crews investigate and clear the scene
