Shortly after arrival the responding deputy was confronted by the suspect, Joshua Dribin, age 22, who was armed with a sword. An officer involved shooting occurred. Joshua Dribin was arrested and treated for his wounds by deputies on scene and transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries. Dribin was arrested for obstructing and resisting, exhibiting a deadly weapon to resist arrest and attempted murder on a peace officer. No deputies or additional civilians were injured in the officer involved shooting. KCSO Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation. Kern County Sheriff's Office detectives investigate any use of deadly force by any member of the department. Investigations are submitted to the Kern County District Attorney's Office for criminal review. Further information and a video presentation will be released at the conclusion of the investigation.
