A 911 call was received around 3 p.m. today reporting a child welfare incident near 40th Street West and Avenue L.

According to the caller, a 2-year-old child fell out of a vehicle in the area. The caller assisted in getting the child back to their residence but became concerned for the child’s well-being and contacted emergency services.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and requested additional units and a supervisor to assist with the investigation.

The child was airlifted by Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel from a nearby field to a hospital for medical evaluation.

The investigation remains ongoing.
