Assault Investigation ends in Lethal Force Encounter After Suspect Drives at Deputies

DATE: May 2, 2026, at 6:30 p.m.

INCIDENT: Lethal Force Encounter

LOCATION: 9000 Block of Whitehaven Road, Oak Hills

SUSPECT(S): Anthony Gerard Tevis, 67-years-old, Resident of Oak Hills

VICTIM(S): Three Sheriff’s Deputies / Female Adult

SUMMARY: On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Station responded to the location for a report of an assault with a weapon. It was reported that Tevis hit the victim with a rake and had a firearm at the residence. Deputies arrived and began an investigation. The suspect drove a vehicle at a high rate of speed toward the victims. A lethal force encounter occurred and Tevis was struck by gunfire. The vehicle came to a stop, and life saving measures were immediately provided to Tevis. Emergency medical personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived and continued care for Tevis. Tevis was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded to the location and assumed the investigation.
