SUSPECT / DECEDENT: Female Adult - Pending Positive Identification

VICTIM(S): 59-year-old Male Resident of Apple Valley

SUMMARY: On Friday, April 24, 2026, at about 8:49 a.m., deputies in Apple Valley were dispatched to a residence on Washoan Road for an unknown problem. When deputies arrived, they located the victim at a neighboring property, with severe injuries. Through investigation, deputies learned the victim had been stabbed at his home he shared with his wife. As deputies approached the victim’s home, they observed smoke coming from inside the house. Deputies attempted to enter the residence to rescue any occupants, but the home was barricaded. A family member inside the home was able to safely exit the residence before shots were heard. The Sheriff’s Specialized Enforcement Division (SED) responded and attempted to make contact with the suspect, to no avail.

Within minutes, the residence was fully engulfed in flames and nearby residences were evacuated. The Apple Valley Fire District responded and extinguished the fire. SED personnel cleared the residence and located a deceased woman.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Detail also responded, assumed the investigation and learned the victim and the suspect were involved in a physical altercation when the stabbing occurred. Investigators also determined the suspect set the house on fire after the fight.

The victim was taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Positive identification is pending on the decedent, and an autopsy will be done to determine the cause and manner of death.
