Detectives Conducting Murder Investigation After 23-year-old Man Found Deceased Near Train Tracks

LOCATION: Mile Marker 58.2, Hesperia

SUSPECT(S): Unknown

VICTIM(S): Jorge Alejandro Quiroz Abarca, 23-year-old Male Resident of Michoacan, Mexico

SUMMARY: On Thursday, July 16, 2026, at about 9:53 a.m., deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a call for service after Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) employees found a deceased male near the tracks at Mile Marker 58.2, in Hesperia. Deputies arrived and discovered the male victim had been shot.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation. The investigation is ongoing and the unknown suspect(s) remains at large.
