A fatal early morning crash on the southbound 14 Freeway at Avenue I in the Lancaster area is under investigation after a pedestrian was struck by at least two vehicles.
According to CHP logs, the incident was first reported around 4:11 a.m. as a pedestrian-related call before being upgraded to a traffic collision. Responding units soon confirmed the crash was fatal.
Authorities said the pedestrian was hit by at least two vehicles. Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Due to the severity of the collision, the victim suffered catastrophic injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The southbound 14 Freeway off-ramp at Avenue I was shut down for several hours while CHP, fire personnel, and investigators processed the scene.
The Los Angeles County Coroner responded, and evidence collection was conducted before tow services were requested to clear the roadway.
The identity of the victim has not been released. The cause of the crash and the events leading up to it remain under investigation.
