Fatal Shooting in Hesperia Leaves One Dead, Suspect Identified

DATE: May 11, 2026, at 10:45 p.m.

INCIDENT: PC187 – Murder

LOCATION: 9000 Block of Second Ave., Hesperia

SUSPECT: Talib Elisha Venegas, 30-year-old Male, Resident of Hesperia

VICTIM: Adrian Clay Wrice, 50-years-old, Resident of Hesperia SUMMARY: On Monday, May 11, 2026, at approximately 10:45 p.m., Hesperia deputies responded to the 9000 block of Second Ave., in Hesperia for a report of a male who had been shot. Upon arrival deputies located Adrian Clay Wrice suffering from a gunshot wound. Deputies immediately initiated lifesaving measures until medical personnel arrived. Wrice was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. Hesperia deputies conducted an initial investigation and identified the suspect as Talib Elisha Venegas, the brother of Wrice. Venegas fled the scene prior to the deputies’ arrival.

The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation. An arrest warrant was issued for Venegas and with the assistance of the Specialized Enforcement Division he was taken into custody. Venegas was transported to the High Desert Detention Center, where he remains in custody without bail.
