Fatal Traffic Crash on State Route 138

On January 14, 2026, just before noon, a multivehicle fatal traffic crash occurred on State Route (SR) 138, west of 195th Street East.

Preliminary investigation indicates a 2012 Chevrolet was being driven westbound on SR-138, west of 195th Street East, while a 2015 Peterbilt with two fully loaded bottom dump trailers was being driven on SR-138 in the opposite direction.

The Chevrolet crossed the center of the highway and collided with the Peterbilt. The driver of the Peterbilt was unable to prevent the truck tractor and trailers from entering the westbound traffic lanes and striking a 2026 Range Rover traveling in the opposite direction.

Tragically, an unbelted adult occupant of the Range Rover sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

The decedent was identified as E. Tsajinwa, and next of kin has been notified. For additional information regarding the deceased, please contact the Los Angeles County Coroner鈥檚 Office at (323) 343-0512.

This traffic crash remains under investigation by Officer M. Beverly of the California Highway Patrol, Antelope Valley Area. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Officer Beverly at (661) 743-6060 during business hours. After hours, please contact the Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at (323) 259-3200.

The CHP reminds all motorists of the critical importance of always wearing a seatbelt and ensuring all passengers are properly restrained. Seatbelts significantly reduce the risk of fatal and serious injuries in traffic collisions.
