Ridgecrest Police Department Arrests Parolee in Possession of Loaded Firearm During Traffic Stop
RIDGECREST, Calif. — June 17, 2026
On June 17, 2026, at approximately 1520 hours, officers from the Ridgecrest Police Department conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of North Alvord Street.
During the course of the investigation, officers contacted the driver, identified as Sidney Maiden. Further investigation revealed that Maiden was in possession of a loaded firearm and a high-capacity magazine. Officers also determined that Maiden is currently on parole.
As a result of the investigation, Maiden was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail on multiple weapons-related charges, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and parole violation.
The Ridgecrest Police Department remains committed to proactively addressing illegal firearms possession and ensuring the safety of our community. The removal of illegally possessed firearms from our streets helps reduce the potential for violent crime and enhances public safety.
