CHP Antelope Valley Investigates Double Fatal Traffic Crash

On September 23, 2025, at approximately 6:20 A.M., California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers from the Antelope Valley Area responded to a head-on traffic crash on Sierra Highway south of Crown Valley Road.

Preliminary investigation determined a black Infiniti Q50, driven by M. Calzada, 22, of Canyon Country, was traveling on Sierra Highway when, for reasons still under investigation, Calzada lost control of the vehicle, crossed into oncoming traffic, and collided head-on with a blue Honda Odyssey driven by S. Hernandez-Trinidad, 57, of Santa Clarita.

Tragically, M. Calzada and his front passenger, P. Gomez, 22, of Canyon Country, sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. A rear passenger in the Infiniti, G. Gonzalez, 22, of Canyon Country, sustained major injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Honda Odyssey, S. Hernandez-Trinidad, also sustained major injuries and was transported for medical treatment. Investigators determined that M. Calzada and G. Gonzalez were not wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision.

The involvement of alcohol and/or drugs by the driver of the Infiniti is under investigation, pending toxicology results.

Next of kin have been notified. For information regarding the deceased, please contact the Los Angeles County Coroner鈥檚 Office at (323) 343-0512.

Anyone with further information regarding this crash is encouraged to contact investigating officer D. Morales at the CHP Antelope Valley Area office at (661) 743-6060 during business hours. After hours, please contact the Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at (323) 259-3200.
