*High-Speed Pursuit Ends in Antelope Valley with Three Teenagers Detained*
A high-speed pursuit that began in South Los Angeles came to an end in the Antelope Valley on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, involving a stolen Hyundai. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) initiated the pursuit at approximately 11:45 p.m.
During the incident, items were thrown from the vehicle while it was traveling at speeds of up to 120 mph. The vehicle remained blacked out throughout. Multiple units joined the pursuit, including LASD Air 21, West Valley, Newhall, and AV CHP units.
The pursuit ended on the northbound 14 Freeway, just past the Avenue O overpass, after officers deployed a spike strip, although one individual later stated they stopped because the vehicle ran out of gas. The three individuals exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. One was detained near the vehicle, while the other two were detained in a nearby neighborhood west of the freeway.
The teenagers are currently being held pending their parents' arrival to pick them up.
