HILARY FIRE — 3RD ALARM

The Hilary Fire has grown to approximately 30 acres, burning in grass and light brush with a moderate rate of spread. Structures are threatened, and Incident Command reports the fire has the potential to reach 100 acres within the next hour.

Firefighters are conducting structure protection in the area of 42nd Street and Barrel Springs Road.

An Evacuation Warning has been issued for Zone PAL-032. An additional Evacuation Warning has been requested for Zone LAC-E049, per radio traffic.

A 3rd Alarm response has also been requested, bringing additional resources to the fire.

The fire was initially reported at approximately 5 acres and was described as wind-driven toward the northeast. It later grew to approximately 20 acres before reaching its current estimated size.

This is a developing incident.

UPDATE: As of 3:30 PM Forward progress of the fire has been stopped at 74 acres, per Incident Command.
