LEMON FIRE — PALMDALE
LACoFD resources remain on scene of the Lemon Fire near the 14 Freeway & Pearblossom Highway in Palmdale.
Per Incident Command, the fire is now approximately 20 acres, running, with a potential to reach 100 acres within the next hour. Winds in the area are reported at 10–15 mph, contributing to fire spread.
Multiple ground and air resources remain assigned.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect emergency traffic.
UPDATE: The fire is now approximately 50 acres, burning to the east with a potential for 200 acres in the next 30 minutes, per Incident Command. Fire officials are requesting Angeles Forest Highway be closed at Carson Mesa Road.
UPDATE 2: The Lemon Fire is now approximately 60 acres. 3 to 4 structures are threatened. Deputies are on scene and requesting multiple units respond code 3 to assist with the fire.
Fire officials are also advising people are flying drones in the area. Sheriff’s deputies and CHP have been requested to locate the drone operators.
UPDATE 3: The fire is now 167 acres with a mild to moderate rate of spread, per incident command. Potential for 50 acres in the next hour. Structure defense remains in place. 1 type 3 strike team (5 type 3 engines) has been requested.
UPDATE 4: Resources are making good progress and the fire now has a slow rate of spread. It is 190 acres and 22% contained. Potential for 250 acres.
UPDATE 5: The fire is now 250 acres with a potential for an additional 25 to 50 acres in the next hour, per incident command. 4 tankers have been released by air attack.
UPDATE 6: Resources are responding to the area of Carrollton Court for structure protection, per radio traffic. 1 additional tanker has been requested by air attack.
UPDATE 7: An evacuation shelter is established at Antelope Valley Family YMCA located at 43001 10th St W, Lancaster, per the County of Los Angeles. Small animal pets are allowed.
UPDATE 8: Forward progress has been stopped, per incident command. [8:45pm]
