Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger in partnership with Waste Management will sponsor a free dumping day for residents of unincorporated Los Angeles County communities in the Antelope Valley.

Residents of unincorporated communities will be able to dump one ton of trash – including appliances and furniture -- per household between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10 at the Lancaster Landfill, 600 East Ave. F, the Supervisor’s office announced.

People must bring a driver’s license or other proof of residency in an unincorporated area. Unincorporated areas include Lake Los Angeles, Quartz Hill, Antelope Acres, Hi Vista, Llano, Pearblossom, Sun Village, Littlerock, Valyermo, Acton, Elizabeth Lake, Lake Hughes, Green Valley, Roosevelt, Agua Dulce, Fairmont, Neenach, Three Points, Leona Valley, Desert View Highlands and Juniper Hills.

Kern County residents and people who live within the city limits of Palmdale and Lancaster are excluded from the event.

No business waste, tires or household hazardous waste – such as paint, used motor oil or batteries – will be accepted Oct. 10,

In addition, the Supervisor’s Antelope Valley office continues to issue landfill vouchers to residents, property owners and business tenants in the unincorporated Antelope Valley.

Through the Antelope Valley Illegal Dumping Task Force, two vouchers are available for each household, property parcel or business. Each voucher will pay for dumping a half ton of waste -- about a typical pickup truck load. The vouchers can be used at the Lancaster landfill or at the Antelope Valley Landfill at 1200 West City Ranch Rd, Palmdale, on any day the landfills are open.

The vouchers are not available for properties or households inside Palmdale or Lancaster city limits or in Kern County.

Vouchers can be obtained weekdays except holidays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger’s Antelope Valley office, 42455 10th St. West, Suite 104, Lancaster.

People requesting landfill vouchers must present a photo identification card verifying their name and they must prove their residence or ownership of property or of a business that rents property in the unincorporated Antelope Valley. Owners of more than one property parcel can obtain two vouchers for each parcel.

Other free waste disposal events are also occurring in the Antelope Valley.

Mattresses and box springs will be accepted 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, and Saturday, Dec. 5, at the county road yard at 8505 East Ave. T, Littlerock; Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Lakes Community Center, 17520 Elizabeth Lake Road in Lake Hughes; Saturday, Oct. 3, at the county road yard at 4859 West Ave. L-12, Quartz Hill; Saturday, Oct. 17, at the county road yard at 17341 East Ave. J north of Lake Los Angeles; and Saturday, Nov. 14, at the county road yard at 38126 Sierra Highway, Palmdale.

In addition, the Antelope Valley Environmental Collection Center operates from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first and third Saturday of each month to accept at no charge household hazardous waste such as paint, oil and batteries as well as old electronic devices such as TVs, monitors, computers and printers. The center is at 1200 West City Ranch Road, Palmdale, west of Tierra Subida Avenue, adjoining Waste Management’s Antelope Valley Landfill.
