NEENACH — Water Rescue

LACoFD is responding to a reported swimmer in the California Aqueduct near 300th St W & Avenue A-8 in Neenach.

According to radio traffic: Multiple LACoFD resources are assigned from Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita Valley areas to assist with the incident.

Engine 477 arrived on scene and advised the swimmer was last seen approximately 15 minutes prior.

Due to the slow water speed, crews believe the subject may not have traveled far downstream. Additional engines are being positioned along the aqueduct to establish search points and improve coverage.

California Department of Water Resources has been requested to shut down the two closest water gates to assist search efforts and limit downstream movement.
