On August 3, 2026, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies assigned to the Rosamond substation responded to the Desert Oasis Mobile Estates in 3300 block of 15th St West in Rosamond, CA for a peace disturbance. Shortly after arrival the responding deputy was confronted by the suspect, Joshua Dribin, age 22, who was armed with a sword. An officer involved shooting occurred.
Joshua Dribin was arrested and treated for his wounds by deputies on scene and transported by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening injuries.
Dribin was arrested for obstructing and resisting, exhibiting a deadly weapon to resist arrest and attempted murder on a peace officer. No deputies or additional civilians were injured in the officer involved shooting.
KCSO Homicide Detectives responded to the scene to assume the investigation.
Kern County Sheriff's Office detectives investigate any use of deadly force by any member of the department. Investigations are submitted to the Kern County District Attorney's Office for criminal review.
