PURSUIT ENDS WITH ARREST AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE FROM ROSAMOND TO QUAIL LAKE
Kern County Sheriff's deputies arrested a domestic violence suspect following a high-speed pursuit that began near 25th Street West and Rosamond Boulevard on Tuesday.
According to radio traffic, the suspect was wanted in connection with a domestic violence incident involving a firearm. Deputies attempted to stop a burgundy BMW, however the license plate displayed on the vehicle returned to a Mercedes.
The pursuit raced through Rosamond at speeds exceeding 100 mph. During the chase, the suspect allegedly threw what deputies believed to be a handgun from the vehicle near Coaches in Rosamond.
The pursuit continued east on Avenue A to Highway 138, then west on Highway 138 toward Quail Lake, where deputies attempted to deploy spike strips. The suspect eventually stopped, fled on foot, and was taken into custody by deputies a short time later.
Assisting agencies included the California Highway Patrol offices from Antelope Valley, Mojave, and Newhall, along with Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department ground units and Aero Bureau, which assisted Kern County deputies during the pursuit.
The firearm believed to have been discarded during the pursuit is expected to be recovered as part of the investigation. The incident remains under investigation.
