π¨ ROSAMOND β A 62-year-old Rosamond woman accused of firing multiple rounds inside a home and threatening several people, including deputies, died from an overdose days after her arrest, according to the Kern County Sheriffβs Office.
Deputies responded around 7:33 p.m. on March 2 to the 3300 block of Sierra Highway after reports that Jacqueline E. Livingston was intoxicated, armed and firing shots inside the residence. Investigators said Livingston allegedly threatened roommates and others, pointed a handgun at one victim and fired approximately five rounds while people fled the home.
Deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation for several hours using phone contact and a PA system. During negotiations, Livingston allegedly threatened to shoot deputies if they entered and claimed she had taken 60 Dilaudid pills. Around 10:34 p.m., deputies entered the home and found Livingston hiding in a bathroom. A K-9 was deployed after she reportedly refused commands while still armed.
Livingston was taken into custody and transported to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment related to medication consumption, underlying medical conditions and injuries caused by the K-9 deployment.
She was later booked on multiple charges including assault with a firearm, criminal threats, child endangerment and discharging a firearm inside an inhabited dwelling.
On March 4 at 4:49 a.m., Livingston was pronounced dead at the hospital. The Kern County Coronerβs Office determined the cause of death was Amlodipine toxicity. The manner of death was listed as undetermined.
KCSO said its Critical Incident Review Board later reviewed the incident and determined the deputiesβ use of force was reasonable and within department policy.
