Semi-Truck Carrying 43,000 Pounds of Cheese Overturns Near 90th Street East and Avenue E
A semi-truck hauling approximately 43,000 pounds of cheese overturned Tuesday night following a traffic collision near 90th Street East and Avenue E.
The crash was reported at approximately 10:31 p.m. Initial reports indicated the semi-truck collided with a van before the tractor-trailer overturned.
One person was reportedly trapped inside the van, prompting a response from emergency crews. Three ambulances were requested to the scene. Those involved were reported to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.
The female driver of the van was transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center and was later taken into custody on suspicion of DUI, according to information from the incident.
CHP incident information indicated both the truck and its 40-foot box trailer ended up on their sides.
Heavy-duty tow equipment was requested to recover the overturned truck and trailer. Southern California Edison and Los Angeles County Roads were also notified to assess the scene.
Drivers should use caution in the area as cleanup and recovery operations may take an extended amount of time.
