SEMI-TRUCK FIRE – SR-14

A semi-truck hauling trash caught fire on the northbound 14 Freeway just south of Newhall Avenue Thursday night.

The incident was reported shortly after 8 p.m. The semi’s cab became fully engulfed, and flames began spreading up the nearby hillside. Los Angeles County Fire Department crews responded to the scene.

CHP reported all occupants were out of the vehicle. Two northbound lanes were shut down while crews worked the fire, and a hard closure was requested for additional lanes.

The tractor and trailer were reported fully engulfed. Heavy-duty towing and a possible lowboy were requested for removal of the damaged truck.

Expect delays in the area while crews continue cleanup and recovery operations.
