**SEMI-TRUCK OVERTURNS ON I-5 TRUCK ROUTE, DRIVER IMPALED BY PIPE**
**SANTA CLARITA —** CHP and Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel are responding to a serious semi-truck collision on the southbound I-5 truck route near the southbound I-5/ northbound SR-14 connector.
The incident was reported at approximately 1:43 p.m. after a semi-truck overturned onto its side.
According to preliminary reports, a pipe penetrated the truck's cab and went through the driver's leg. A CHP officer on scene advised that the injury was too high on the leg to apply a tourniquet.
CHP requested a hard closure of the southbound I-5 to northbound SR-14 truck route. As of 2:00 p.m., all truck lane traffic was being diverted onto the mainline freeway.
Motorists should expect significant delays and avoid the area if possible.
The driver's condition has not been confirmed.
