**OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM SPECTRUM — OCTOBER 21, 2026**
**Spectrum statement on criminal attack cutting our fiber lines this morning:**
This morning our fiber optic lines were intentionally cut in another criminal attack on our critical infrastructure, resulting in the outage for some residents and businesses in Palmdale and Lancaster. Our teams worked quickly and repaired more than 200 fiber lines to restore services for affected customers earlier this morning by 11 a.m.
Today is the latest in a number of attacks that have impacted customers. Criminal attacks on communications infrastructure are a growing issue affecting the entire telecommunications industry, not just Spectrum. These acts are not only a crime but threaten public safety. The broader telecommunications industry experienced 18,327 attacks in 2025, a 59% increase since 2024, affecting more than 11.8 million customers across the country.
We are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information on this criminal attack can contact Spectrum at 833-404-TIPS(8477) or reach out to local law enforcement.

**Additional clarification from Spectrum:** Their fiber lines do NOT contain copper.
