SUMMARY: In April 2026, the High Desert Multi Disciplinary InnROADS Team conducted homeless outreach operations along Apple Valley Road and Highway 18 in the Town of Apple Valley. During this outreach, team members located a female transient sleeping near a dumpster in an alley behind a local business. She had visible injuries across her body consistent with having recently been assaulted.
Through further investigation, Deputy M. Otey learned the victim had been in a relationship for several months with Jeffery Daniels, a 51- year-old resident of Apple Valley. Evidence revealed that during the course of this relationship, Daniels physically and sexually assaulted the victim on multiple occasions, ultimately causing injuries significant enough to require hospitalization.
After a two month investigation, Deputy Otey submitted the case to the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office. As a result, the District Attorney filed charges for PC 273.5(a) – Domestic Violence Inflicting Corporal Injury and PC 287(c)(2)(A) – Forcible Oral Copulation, and a warrant for Daniels' arrest was issued on June 30, 2026.
On July 2, 2026, Apple Valley Patrol Deputy Hinojosa located Daniels during a subject stop near Highway 18 and Olalee Road. During a search of Daniels’ backpack, Deputy Hinojosa located ammunition. Daniels is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing ammunition under California law.
Daniels was arrested without incident and booked into the High Desert Detention Center on the outstanding warrants. He was additionally booked for PC 30305(a)(1) – Felon in Possession of Ammunition.
