WATER RESCUE RESPONSE – PALMDALE
At approximately 7:41 a.m. Sunday morning, Los Angeles County Fire Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to a reported water rescue after a caller reported what appeared to be a person floating in the California Aqueduct near 30th Street West and Avenue P, behind the Beacon area.
According to radio traffic, the caller described seeing an individual wearing a black hoodie and white shoes floating in the aqueduct. Sheriff's deputies were requested to respond Code 3 while fire crews and specialized rescue resources, including dive personnel, were dispatched.
The incident was handled as a water rescue with multiple specialized units responding.
As of 8:53 a.m., a body had been recovered from the aqueduct, and the scene was turned over to the California Highway Patrol for investigation.
The identity of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
