CIT Deputies Catch Auto Theft Suspect Repainting Stolen Vehicle
Crime Impact Team (CIT) deputies arrested two suspects Monday, January 5, after catching them in the act of attempting to disguise a stolen vehicle. Deputies were patrolling Newhall Avenue in Newhall when they observed a man and a woman at a self-service car wash with a pickup truck. Instead of washing the vehicle, the pair were actively spray-painting it. Further investigation revealed the truck had been reported stolen.
The male suspect, a 31-year-old from Little Rock, was found in possession of narcotics. Due to two prior convictions, he was arrested and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance. The female suspect, a 38-year-old from Lancaster, was arrested on felony auto theft charges. She was also found to have an outstanding warrant related to narcotics offenses.
