Expired Registration Stop Results in Loaded Ghost Gun Arrest
On Sunday morning, a deputy conducting patrol checks in Canyon Country observed a vehicle near Sand Canyon Road and Soledad Canyon Road with registration expired for more than two years.
As the deputy contacted the driver regarding the violation, the individual quickly tossed a black satchel into the backseat of the vehicle. The deputy’s field investigation revealed the reason why. Inside the satchel was a loaded firearm, later determined to be an unserialized “ghost gun.”
The 31-year-old Lancaster man was arrested on felony charges for possession of a loaded firearm, as well as misdemeanor charges for possession of an unserialized firearm.
What began as a traffic stop resulted in the removal of an illegal firearm from the SCV community.
