Lancaster Man Arrested for Desert Hot Springs Homicide
A 19-year-old man was arrested Tuesday, Dec. 30, on suspicion of shooting and killing a 34-year-old man in Desert Hot Springs two days earlier.
Desert Hot Springs Police Chief Steven Shaw said the suspect, Michael Dodd, was arrested Tuesday morning in Lancaster and later booked into jail on suspicion of murder. It did not appear that formal charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
Dodd is accused of shooting and killing Francisco Lemus, who was found fatally injured inside a vehicle after police received reports of gunshots in the 66000 block of Avenida Cadena at about 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28. Lemus, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was a resident of Riverside County, but police did not say where he lived.
Shaw said police were not seeking any other suspects in the shooting, but the investigation remained ongoing.
